Yoga Philosophy for Advanced Studies

Deepen your understanding of the roots of Yoga philosophy through this immersive training focused on Jnana Yoga, the path of knowledge and self-inquiry. Designed for Yoga teachers and dedicated students, this course expands on foundational teachings such as the Yoga Sutras and moves into deeper philosophical texts like the Bhagavad Gita. You’ll explore the nature of the Self, the mind, and the ultimate purpose of practice—living in alignment with dharma. This training supports your growth not just as a practitioner but as a conscious educator, rooted in the wisdom of tradition and equipped for the realities of modern life.

What you will learn:

  • In-depth study of The Bhagavad Gita (Easwaran translation, 3 volumes)

  • How to apply classical Yoga philosophy in modern life

  • Exploration of Atman, Brahman, and Parabrahman

  • Jnana Yoga and the evolution of wisdom through direct experience

  • The nature of mind and unity consciousness

Required Reading:

  • The Bhagavad Gita for Daily Living, Volume 1: The End of Sorrow by: Eknath Easwaran
  • The Bhagavad Gita For Daily Living, Volume 2: Like a Thousand Suns by: Eknath Easwaran
  • The Bhagavad Gita for Daily Living, Volume 3: To Love is Know Me by: Eknath Easwaran

Pre-Requisites:

This training will be split between live/virtual (22.5-hours) and in person (22.5-hrs)

Each session will open and close with meditation, followed by a deep dive into our required texts – The Bhagavad Gita. Asana, meditation and pranayama will be woven throughout the day. This training module includes 10 non-contact hours in the form of readings and written assignments. A certificate will be provided once all hours have been completed and assignments have been turned in.

Yoga for Philosophy for Advanced Studies can be taken on its own, or can be included as 55-hours towards your 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training Certificate. Within the 300-hour YTT track, training modules can be taken in any order.
